Principal Message Regarding Important Information for the 2018-2019 School Year Highlands Middle School

Hello HMS Families,

I hope your summer is off to a great start and all of our Bluebird families are getting to spend some time enjoying the sun and having an amazing time together.  As a courtesy, I wanted to communicate as early as possible some dates and items of importance for the upcoming school year.  First, the supply lists for the 2018-2019 school year are now posted on our web page under QuickLinks. Next, throughout the summer I will try to periodically send information about important dates and in July send a mailer home.  We have a couple of key events that happen in August and I want to be sure everyone is aware of those so families may plan accordingly.  Two specific events of importance in August are 6th Grade Transition Day and HMS Getting Ready Day.

Your Child's MacBook Needs a Cover and Other Important Information

Parents,

The MacBooks are a valuable educational resource for our students.  It is a tool that will be used every day and we need to take purposeful measures to protect the Mac.

  1. Don’t place the Mac near liquids.
  2. When traveling (walking) put the Mac in a sleeve or laptop padded backpack.
  3. The Mac must be protected by a hard shell case.
  4. If the case is broken and no longer able to protect the Mac please replace the case with a new one.

Having a hard shell case on the Mac is a mandatory requirement for using the laptop.  When you come to Getting Ready Days it will be necessary to have a hard case to protect the Mac.  If you don’t bring a case one can be purchased at HMS for $13.   If you choose to buy a hard case from a retail store just make sure it fits a MacBook Air 11 inch.

Thank you
