Highlands Middle School Dance Scores Big at State!

Highlands Middle School Dance Team

Congratulations to the Highlands Middle School Dance Team for the state title they earned this weekend in Frankfort, KY!  On Sunday, February 25th the HMS dance team competed at Kentucky State University as part of the annual KDCO State Dance Competition.  Under the direction of Head Coach Samantha Reynolds (Woodfill Elementary School teacher), the HMS Dance Team was crowned state champions for their Pom routine placing 1st among 8 region champions from across Kentucky in the Large Middle School Division.  This is the 2nd consecutive year the team has brought home a state title from Frankfort in the Large School Division.

HMS Dance also competed in Hip-Hop and earned a 4th place finish out of 12 teams, which was an improvement from last year’s 6thplace finish.

Coach Reynolds was ecstatic with the way things worked out and had this to say about her team, “Every single team member worked tirelessly all season to get to the level that they did, with only the expectation of doing their best and improving as a team. They are the most kind, poised, and mature group that all were good friends in and out of the gym, pushing each other and supporting each other all season.”
