Woodfill distinguishes itself as one of the top elementary schools in Kentucky. Woodfill has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and was acknowledged by the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) as a “Pace Setter School” in 2003-2004. We were also the first school in the Fort Thomas District to reach the level of “Proficient” as designated by KDE. We acknowledge that each child is unique and strive to provide excellent educational opportunities to a wide-ranging, diverse student population.
The success of our students is related to the high quality and dedication of our faculty and staff, supportive parents, and students who are willing to accept the challenge of hard work. Teachers actively engage students in the learning process through hands-on activities, projects, learning centers, student displays, an outdoor garden, field trips, and assembly programs. Students participate in Service Learning Projects thereby seeing their skills in a real-world application setting.
Woodfill received the Jefferson Award for Public Service and has been named a “School of Contribution” for five straight years because of our Service Learning Projects. Woodfill also received special recognition from Children's Inc. for being the "birthplace" of service learning in the district.
In 2011 we were named one of five Kentucky Elementary Schools to be a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the Department of Education in Washington, DC. This could not have been accomplished without the hard work and decidcation of many students, teachers, support staff, and parents. Today we continue to demonstrate the excellence that helped earn this award both inside and outside of the classroom.
We believe that all students should be challenged to the best of their ability. Therefore, we strive to provide opportunities for students to learn and grow daily. We offer several extra-curricular activities (Studio Art, STLP, Chess, Choir, Drama Club, Academic Team, Engineering, Journalism Club).
For those students who need additional academic support, we provide special support services such as Title I, and ESS. We also have extra-curricular activities and the district offers special classes during the summer months.
We draw upon the support and dedication of many parent volunteers, our PTO and Woodfill Boosters to provide many opportunities and “extras.” We also have a Business Education Success Team (BEST) partner, KLH Engineers, through the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. We also work collaboratively with Northern Kentucky University to provide services.
