Fort Thomas Independent Schools offers a wonderful preschool program located at Johnson Elementary. This program is open to 3- and 4-year-old children who live in the Fort Thomas School District and meet certain requirements. The preschool program is available at no cost to children who qualify based on income guidelines and are 4 by August 1st of the current school year or to children once they turn 3, who have any type of developmental delay.
To determine if your child has any type of developmental delay, a short test or screening is given in the areas of speech, language, motor, cognitive, self-help skills and social skills. A mild delay in any of these areas may make your child eligible for free preschool.
Preschool classes are held Monday – Thursday from 8:15-11:15 or 12:00-3:00 and lunch is served during both sessions. There are no classes on Friday to allow the staff to hold parent/teacher meetings, teacher planning and home visits.
If you are interested in our preschool program and would like your child screened, or if you have any questions about the program, please feel free to contact Donna Schulte, Preschool Coordinator, at 859.815.2009. Our next screening date is Friday, May 20 . Please call to schedule an appointment!
