HIGHLANDS SOCCER PLAYER TO SIGN LETTER OF INTENT

What:

Highlands High School soccer player Sydney Ossege will sign a letter of intent to play soccer at Youngstown State University. The signing will be held at 3:15pm on Monday, February 6, 2017, in the media center at Highlands High School.

Sydney is a two-year varsity player, playing mostly outside midfielder and forward. Over the past two years, she has been a significant part of helping the program grow while winning multiple awards. She was selected as 1st Team All-Region and 2nd Team All-State in 2016. Sydney is one of the fastest and quickest players in the state and had a significant role in the Bluebirds’ very successful 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Sydney has also put her time in outside of Highlands’ soccer, playing club soccer at Cincy West, Kings Hammer Soccer Club and Northern Kentucky Soccer Academy.  Her stamina, speed and quickness allowed her to be one of the biggest threats in Kentucky high school soccer, causing many teams to adjust their normal formations to account for “man marking” Sydney.

Brian Wiefering, Highlands High School girls soccer head coach, said, “In the world of college soccer, it is very rare to see a senior getting the attention of Division 1 colleges. I knew Sydney’s incredible athletic ability and the improvements she made to become a more skilled soccer player were simply too much to be ignored by college scouts. I am truly excited to see Sydney continue to grow as a soccer player and leader at Youngstown State.”

HIGHLANDS FOOTBALL PLAYER TO SIGN LETTER OF INTENT

What:

Highlands High School football player Jared Pulsfort will sign a letter of intent to play football at Wittenberg University. The signing will be held at 3pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, in the media center at Highlands High School.

Jared is a three-year letterman who was awarded Underclassman Mr. Highlands Football his junior year and Mr. Highlands Football his senior year.  He was also All-NKAC.

“Jared is one of the finest young men I have had the privilege to coach,” said Brian Weinrich, Highlands High School varsity football coach.  “His leadership, unparalleled work ethic and selfless attitude have made him not only a great football player but also a great person. I have no doubt that he will continue the tradition of success that Highlands’ graduates have had at Wittenberg University. Jared’s resiliency and his positive attitude will allow him to come back stronger than ever as he continues to attack his knee rehab. Wittenberg will be a better place with Jared on campus.”
