Highlands Students to Participate in Civic Health Panel Discussion

Two Highlands High School “We the People” students will participate in a civic health panel discussion with Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes (moderator); Mike Farrell, UK Associate Professor of Journalism; and Steve Pendery, Campbell County Judge Executive.

This discussion will be based on the findings of the recently released “2016 Kentucky Civic Health Index”, a report that the Office of Secretary of State, WKU, McConnell Center and the NCoC partnered to produce.

Secretary Grimes will pose questions to the panel based on the major themes of the report. The themes will consist of the lack of trust in public institutions, including our news media, volunteerism, community engagement and political action.

The 2012 and the 2016 reports are available for review at: http://www.sos.ky.gov/civics/Pages/Civic-Health-Initiative.aspx
