Welcome to my Math Class. In the 5th grade, we work really hard on our math with our math series, Everyday Math. The students spend a large part of most class periods working in small groups on journal pages that teach them to be better thinkers. We play games frequently in class and these games are all tied into the concepts. They are fun too! The kids typically have homework about 4 days a week. The homework is almost always in their Home Links book and should take about 30 minutes at the most to complete.

- Multiplying Decimals with Khan Academy
This video and the one that follows it (once you're on the site there's a scroll bar on the left side showing the choices and there's a 2nd video about a word problem and after that there's practice problems) are all great and show how to multiply decimals. Please practice these for the ch 2 test. You won't be able to use lattice for the test.
- Pi Day Lesson Link
This is the link you will need to use during the Pi Day lesson on the RT's 3/14. Please don't view this before class on Friday.
- Adding with Mixed Numbers
This is especially for those students that were out of class on Fri and are making up the test on Monday and then missing the lesson on Monday--but is good for anyone that wants to review it.
- Khan Academy video on Scientific Notation
I had a tough time finding this particular video so I thought I'd post it in case you wanted to watch it and stretch yourself further with negative exponents!
- Hour of Code Link
- Adding & Subtracting Positive and Negative Numbers Explanation
This is a great explanation (including visuals and examples) adding and subtracting positive and negative numbers. Great help for Un 7.
- Bedtime Math
Great word problems that are perfect for 5th grade. There is also an easier section for younger children. Answers are at the bottom and problems are changed daily.
- Study Jams
This fantastic site operated by Scholastic breaks math into sub-sections and demonstrates skills in it. This is a great resource!
- Everyday Math Online
Forgot your Study Link at school? Want to play a game we've played in class? Access your account from home. You need your login (different from your usual login) and everyone's password is 555.
- Scale City Website
Use this link during math class in the lab for the scale city activities.
- Games to Boost Skills
- More Math Homework help
Here is yet another math website for math homework help.
***Click on Ask Dr. Math*** I had the most success there.
- Podcasts -SmartBoard Math Tutorials
- Math Homework Help
This is a pretty generic site that includes a variety of topics. This would be helpful as part of a review of concepts at home.
- Everyday Math Parent Help
This is a great website for parents who need help with the Study Links. Click on Parents and then Help with Study Links. From there you can choose which unit & lesson to get help with. Unfortunately, not every lesson is included but this should be very helpful!
