Souvenir Letter

                Souvenir Bits

Dear Parent/Guardian,

This year your child will be bringing home a souvenir every Monday that pertains to our weekly story. Your child will use this souvenir as a reminder to help them recall the story of the week. How will you know if the story is recalled correctly? I suggest that you and your child read the story together at home. Your child can bring home this story any day of the week (In our Basal Book) and they can access it online. The story will also be read in our classroom throughout the week. As we read the story in class, we will break down the story using a weekly skill to learn how to deepen our comprehension of the story. Please ask your child to tell you about the weekly story. I have enclosed inside their Souvenir Bag (Ziploc Baggie) a response booklet that needs to be filled out and returned every Friday. This sharing experience will help your child’s literacy development and will provide a warm and special time for the two of you to talk about books.

Please find a place where your child can keep all of the souvenirs that will come home. I think he/she will be surprised at all the reading treasures that will be collected over the many weeks of school.

Happy Sharing,

Mrs. Opitz
