Grant County Invite 9/2

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS INFORMATION TO UNDERSTAND THE CHANGES FOR THE MEET TOMORROW...

First off, I am 100% confident a better solution exists and could have been made by Grant County that is WAY easier for parents/coaches. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to make any decisions on a meet I don't host. The other option was for us to cancel and not attend the meet, but I honestly feel the course won't be that bad and some of us need to race.

If after you read this, you choose to not attend the race this week, I will completely understand that decision. simply let me know ASAP so Coach Lense and I have an idea of who will be running and who will not.

The times for the meet below will be the same, and I suggest you be there an HOUR before your scheduled race. We will have two tents.

Basically, because of the rain and the course is at Sherman Elementary, they usually use a large grass to park cars. They are not able to do this tomorrow so cars do not get stuck, so they came up with a plan to bus spectators in from 15 min away at Grant Co High School. NOT IDEAL.....Though, You are allowed to drop kids off at the elementary school where the race is held, FYI.

Info about the shuttle system is below in an email from the meet director. However, I do have a few ideas other than the 15 min shuttle that might work.: Again, These and just thoughts on my end and may be useful...

1. Since You can drop kids off at the school, you could drop them off and pick them up after their race..

2. There could be other places to park nearby that would avoid the shuttle situation (I am not sure where but I am going out on a limb here) I am guessing there must be a place to park and walk?

3. You could park somewhere in Crittenden (EX: the fairgrounds, up by the expressway, an empty lot, and take an UBER? bicycle? walk? run?)

4. Cars with Handicap stickers can park at the race site.

5. Organize a mass drop off/pick up with other parents?

6. Have a sibling who can drive drop off parents and the athlete and pick them up after the race?

7. Drop off athletes, drive to Grant Co and take the shuttle (which could be the worst option honestly)

The possibilities are endless.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR ATHLETES ARE PREPARED WITH A JACKET OR SWEATS TO WEAR BEFORE THEY RACE AND CLEAN, DRY CLOTHING FOR AFTERWARDS.

If the weather worsens and the meet is canceled, I will send a remind ASAP.

All,

Due to weather - please read the following

The following will Park at Grant Co Invitational Race - located at Sherman Elementary School.

1- All race officials
3- Any handicap person with handicap car placker

ALL OTHERS will park at GRANT COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL. Then they will be bussed to the race/event.  Please notify ALL Others so the can plan accordingly.  It will take approximately 15 minutes to ride on bus from the Grant Co High School to the Invitational.  Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for student.  Admission will be collected before spectators get on the bus.

Grant County High School address is 715 Warsaw Road, Dry Ridge, KY 41035.

Sherman Elementary School address 3987 Dixie Hwy., Dry Ridge, KY 41035

- We will have access to the gymnasium at Sherman for teams to assemble; however, they will not be permitted to wear spikes in there.

- Race schedule will go as originally planned.

- I have been asked to please ask your spectators to have exact change for the admission gate to expedite the shuttle process at GCHS.

- This procedure will be in effect for the entire day for the meet at Sherman.  MS and elementary events included.  You will have to go to GCHS and shuttle over and back. Please let your parents know so they can make the necessary arrangements.

Like we have said, these are not the most ideal conditions, but it is the best we could do.  We simply ask for your cooperation and patience from each of you, your athletes, parents, and spectators.  Thank you and we look forward to putting on the best meet we can for your athletes, which is what this is all about.

As I get any updates or additional information, I will send info to the listserve.
David
