I am beginning my fifth year at Johnson, my sixteenth year of teaching. Although I've been teaching at Johnson a short time, I feel as though I have been here forever. This could be due to the fact that I attended Johnson as a student, and I am teaching in the same room where I was a first grader!
During my teaching experience, I have taught Kindergarten, First, Third, and Fourth grades. I have taught in schools in diverse locations- rural (Frankfort, KY), inner-city (Lexington and Covington, KY), and even overseas (New Zealand). I have also spent two of these years not as a teacher, but as a Literacy Coach, a role which allowed me to collaborate in several teachers' classrooms, enabling me to gain a wealth of best teaching practices. However, of all of these experiences, First grade is where my heart is! The learning that takes place during this developmental time compares to nothing else.
