Freshman right hander Mitchell Jones struck out six and fellow freshmen Jake Whitford and Luke Hennigan drove in two runs apiece in Highlands 10-0, five-inning win Monday against Dayton.
Whitford, a shortstop, went 2-for-3 with a two-run double in the Bluebirds three-run second inning.
Hennigan, playing catcher, was twice hit with the bases loaded, including in the bottom of the fifth to put Highlands ahead by 10 runs, ending the game.
Junior third baseman Gabe Schultz also drove in a pair of runs, one with a single in the first and the other on a double in the second.
