Karen has served on the Board of Education since January 2005. She has also served on the District Strategic Planning Committee, the Local Planning Committee and has been a member of the Samuel Woodfill Parent Teacher Organization and Site Based Decision Making Council, the Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership and a founding member of the Fort Thomas Education Foundation. She worked at Procter & Gamble for 12 years before leaving to take care of her children and becoming more involved in the schools. Karen has two children who are Highlands graduates: Meaghan (HHS Class of 2012, currently in her first year at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law) and Evan (HHS Class of 2014, currently a senior Chemical Engineering major at the University of Louisville). Her husband, Paul, is General Counsel for Fischer Homes. Karen is a 1984 graduate of Highlands High School and a 1988 graduate of Transylvania University where she received her B.A. in Computer Science and Mathematics. In her spare time, Karen enjoys watching movies and television, attending Disney and Comic-con conventions, traveling, and spending time with her family and dogs.
