Dear FTIS Students, Families, and Staff,

What a wonderful time to be part of the Fort Thomas Independent School District!  I am truly honored to have the opportunity to serve as your superintendent. Having served as a teacher, coach, and principal in Fort Thomas for over twenty years, as well as being blessed to send my own children to our schools, I know first-hand that Fort Thomas is a special place.  It is home, and I am grateful for that!

Last year, through the resiliency of our entire school community, we were able to persevere through one of the most challenging times in our nation’s history. I am proud of the efforts from our families, community members, teachers, and staff to maintain excellence and high expectations. It is time now that we reflect and renew. We must reflect on the qualities that have enabled our district to continue recognition as the top school system in the state and renew our commitment to being even better versions of ourselves. Our team is prepared to continue to live our motto of being “rich in tradition, focused on the future.” While continuing to monitor the ever-changing conditions, and ensuring our students and staff are safe, our schools are preparing to provide the rich experiences and opportunities for students we have valued in our schools for generations.

The 2021-2022 school year will serve as a renewal of what makes Fort Thomas a treasure. We are excited to open the Johnson Elementary campus on the first day of school in a state-of-the-art building that will make our community proud. Our team will focus on enhancing a positive, unified culture that is intentional about preparing each and every student to achieve personal success and own their future. Our team will seek opportunities to enhance student experiences in and out of the classroom, impact high achievement, and attend to the individual student growth each child deserves.

Our Portrait of a Graduate work, informed by research and deep community involvement, will continue to serve as a basis for growing the competencies each child needs to be competitive in the workforce and post-secondary education. Building from this work, we will ensure our teams work collectively and collaboratively to ensure curriculum, instruction, resources, and extra/co-curricular experiences are aligned throughout the K-12 experience so that the portrait we create is that of the Fort Thomas Graduate.

We need your support and partnership! Our schools are the heart of the community and our team pledges to serve to reflect the deep value our community places on hard work, individual responsibility, student achievement, and the expectation that each child deserves a world-class education. Our teachers, principals, administrative staff, and I encourage your feedback. We will continue to build excellence together. This is the tradition that drives everything we do. It is a great day to be in the Fort and I look forward to our continued success!
